Linear bearings are meant to be loaded radially such that the ball bearings inside them roll. In 3D printing applications the weights and loads are too low which allows the balls to slide. This sliding is in turn is the cause of noise and wear on the bearings. Drylin® bearings also have the added benefit of not requiring lubrication which makes them far less messy.
Our Drylin® bearings are direct replacements for linear bearings that slide on 12mm and replace LM12UU linear ball bearings.
We use these on our own development machines.
The actual installation of the Drylin® bearings may differ from printer to printer. Please consult your user manual first. If the documentation you have is not detailed enough we will be happy to help you if you contact us.
