Our most versatile engineering filament is arguably the Techna PET-G 2.85mm filament. As it is amorphous by nature, PET-G has an almost transparent look with can translate nicely if care is paid to the extrusion temperature. Our PET-G offers reliable printing with good mechanical properties so you can expect the benefits of printing with both PLA and ABS rolled into one cool spool!

Description

Our most versatile engineering filament is arguably the Techna PET-G 2.85mm filament. As it is amorphous by nature, PET-G has an almost transparent look with can translate nicely if care is paid to the extrusion temperature. Our PET-G offers reliable printing with good mechanical properties so you can expect the benefits of printing with both PLA and ABS rolled into one cool spool!

Plus it can be made into some really cool colours too!

Our extruding partners have tested the printed filament to be able to give you a starting point for using the material in your engineering projects:

Property Test Spec Typical value
Specific gravity ASTM D792 1,27 g/cc
Mold shrinkage ASTM D955 0,2-0,5%
Tensile strengthn@yield ASTM D638 50 MPa
Elongation at break ASTM D638 120%
Flexural modulus ASTM D790 2150 MPa
Impact Strength
Izod Notched 23˚C
ASTM D256 85 J/m
Rockwell Hardness ASTM D785 105

    Prints like a dream

Heard various horror stories about using PETG to print in – how its awkward and prone to various issues.
So I was tentative about trying this. Now I wish I’d jumped straight in sooner.

It prints really nicely, and the natural translucency looks great. It’ll never be transparent like injection moulding due to the nature of 3D printing, but when you’re making props, trying to get an item as close to possible as the original is your goal, and this filament has delivered in spades.

Cant speak about how well it handles sanding or painting – as the material colour (green transparent) was what I was looking for, but the material itself is great!
